Mike: 메시는 자타가 공인하는 현재 세계 최고 축구 선수야.
Paul : 메시는 나이지라아전에서 한 골도 못 넣었어.
Mike: 한국전에서도 그랬으면 좋겠어.

　‘be hoping that(or to)~’은 ‘~되기를 바라다’는 뜻. “그녀는 금메달을 따기를 희망하고 있다”는 “She is hoping to win the gold medal.”이다. “우리는 그가 그 시험을 통과하기를 바라고 있어”는 “We are hoping that he could pass the exam.”이다.
