off the hook　곤경을 벗어난

　낚시 바늘ㆍ갈고리는 `hook`이다. 낚시에 걸린 물고기가 `off the hook` 되면 곤경에서 벗어나게 된다.

stand 참다
not any longer 더 이상 ～ 않다

A: Are you off the hook with your boss now?
B: He still gives me a hard time at work.
A: It`s best to forget what`s past.
B: He is bad-tempered. I can`t stand him any 　 longer.

A: 이제 상관한테서 벗어난 거니?
B: 그는 여전히 회사에서 나를 힘들게 해.
A: 지난 일은 빨리 잊는 게 상책이다.
B: 그는 성질이 괴팍해. 더 이상 참을 수가 없어.
