stand-still　정체 상태

　`stand still`은 `가만히 있다`는 뜻. `stand-still`이 명사로 쓰여 `정지`란 뜻을 갖는다. 예를 들어 `보안 경보로 공항이 정지되었다`는 `The security alert brought the airport to a standstill`로 표현할 수 있다.

A: Are we making any progress in negotiations with the management.
B: Not really. We`re still at a stand-still.
A: We`ll do something about it.
B: We`re getting into a labor strike next week.

A: 경영진과의 협상에 진전이 있습니까?
B: 별로요. 여전히 제자리 걸음입니다.
A: 어떻게 좀 해야지요.
B: 다음주 파업에 들어가야죠
